It's been one week since I (Darla) was gifted with this perfectly named platform, site to use as a tool to share thoughts, ideas, recipes, goodness, relationships, and Christian examples of my life and how and Who I get my power from. That's just the secret…it's not my power. It's not anything that I do, don't do. It's all because of Him. It is so freeing to let go of control, to surrender to His desire, His ways for me, His plan. When I realized that nothing I can do or say can make Him love me any more or less was a game changer for me. The Creator of all things, loves me. No conditions or performance required. Me, just as I am. Forgiven and surrendered. Freed from fear, a chain that had me bound for a very long time. His Words to me, “I am in control and I have a plan”, came at a very difficult time in my life. Those words have fueled my freedom.
I have the YouVersion Bible app on my phone. Every morning when I get out of bed to unplug my phone, the first thing I do is look at the verse of the day, read it and ask how He is speaking to me, what He wants me to learn, my instructions for the day, more fuel. At the end of the day, when I plug my phone back in before going to sleep, I take one last look at the verse of the day and close my eyes thanking Him for how He used that verse to lead me and bless me.
Today’s verse, Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” ESV other versions say “they shall be filled” Satisfied and filled and hunger and thirst….spiritual and physical connotations. Spiritually, He is our righteousness and when we accept His love and forgiveness, the gift He offers, we are satisfied and filled. Physically, we hunger and thirst for the right food to satisfy and fill us. We get filled but sometimes, most times, satisfaction doesn't come. Then we fill again, and again looking for satisfaction. We fill it with the wrong food. He’s given us the right food to fuel our physical bodies. It takes work and sometimes pain to help us understand this. We won't get filled, satisfied with the processed, packaged, chemical filled, damaging food that is our norm. We will be filled and satisfied when we ask Him for His direction and wisdom when choosing the right fuel for the body He gave us. We only get one. As His followers, we have His Spirit, Power living in us, His temple. Remember, we only get one life in this body. Hunger and thirst for His righteousness(fueled by His Word) and the right fuel for His temple, our bodies. Be freed from fear. Be satisfied and filled.
